Meonji held the sparkling pair of scissors. In the mirror, Meonji’s glittering eyes stared back at her, her soft expression slightly cold. Long silver hair floated down around her beautifully, like it always did, but now a bit dull, and a bit heavier. The weight of the world and the emptiness in the air that surrounded Meonji… everything. Snip. A lock of silver hair drifting down, down, down. Snip. Another.
The stars, seen through the window by Meonji’s bed, looked over her. That’s how Meonji liked to think about them. Now, she sat on the wooden floor with her legs crossed,her locks of silver hair reflected starlight. She thought about yesterday. She wondered what she could do, what she was supposed to do, if she was supposed to do anything at all. That morning, Meonji had learned something. The facility was corrupt, and she had helped them, unknowingly of course, but her discoveries and contributions fell over her like a cloud of dust.
Next to Meonji, Bunny listened intently, her white fur creating a gentle halo in the dark space.
“Bunny, please help me sort through these files. While you do that, I’ll read through the physical documents we gathered earlier. There must be something that will guide us.”
“Yes, Meonji.” Bunny solemnly sorted through the files, her ear twitching every now and then.
